Aided by a haunting score by Jivan Gasparyan, the shape and movement of the bodies reflect a suppressed violence. The women move as though released from consciousness or gravity, falling and recuperating, haunted by an irrepressible past. In this documentary, Pina Bausch speaks about the beginnings of the Tanztheater and the path she had to follow. She reflects on her rehearsal process, her works (more than 30 by now), her co-productions with other cities and countries and the challenges of touring.
