Donald Cammell: The Ultimate Performance Director: Kevin Macdonald and Chris Rodley, Country: United Kingdom, Release: 1998, Runtime: 75m Kevin MacDonald and Chris Rodley’s entertaining and illuminating portrait of Cammell the artist and Cammell the individual – little difference, after all. The film includes excellent interviews with Cammell’s friends, family and collaborators, including Mick Jagger, James Fox, Nicolas Roeg, Barbara Steele and Kenneth Anger. But the most fascinating footage is of the witty, mercurial Cammell himself. preceded by The Argument Director: Donald Cammell, Country: USA, Release: 1999, Runtime: 14m Sometimes viewed as a companion piece to Lucifer Rising, Cammell’s 1972 short was left incomplete by the director and rediscovered and finished by his editor and close collaborator Frank Mazzola in 1999.
