What Future? Street Children in the Democratic Republic of Congo

For the past seven years, Martin Bleasdale has documented the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2002, he published a book on Congo titled One Hundred Years of Darkness. Marcus was recently awarded the 2006 Overseas Press Club Olivier Rebbot Award for his work in Congo and one of the photographs from the series on street children won a 2006 World Press Photo 2nd Prize Award for Daily Life Singles. He was named 2005 Magazine Photographer of the Year by Pictures of the Year International (POYi). His photographs are published worldwide and have appeared in The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Geo, The New Yorker, TIME, Newsweek and National Geographic.

This exhibit is being held in conjunction with The 2006 Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, June 9 - 22. For a listing of films and screening schedule click here.
