Director of Public Relations

The Director of Public Relations is responsible for developing, directing and managing all media relations for a rapidly growing organization and its programs, including: the New York Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, the annual Gala Tribute, year round programming at The Walter Reade Theater and special events. The Director is a member of Film Society of Lincoln Center’s (FSLC) senior management team and reports to the Executive Director in partnership with the Director of Marketing. The department consists of the Director and one associate.

Responsibilities:

• Create media strategy to facilitate successful press and marketing for the institution and the programming.
• Ensure effective and consistent external communications.
• Secure media coverage of FSLC programs and events.
• Work closely with Marketing to plan and coordinate promotional efforts.
• Develop and maintain relationships within the film industry, including talent, producers, PR agencies, agents and managers.
• Supervise the development, production and distribution of all press materials including press releases, photographs and internal publicity updates.
• Oversee all press screenings for FLSC programs.

Qualifications:

• 7 plus years of public relations and/or press management experience within an entertainment or arts environment, preferably film.
• Proven relationships with media outlets.
• The ability to pitch and place stories as well as design effective PR campaigns.
• An understanding of social and new media outlets.
• Extensive knowledge of film and the film industry.
• Experience at a professional company and/or organization (ie, not a freelance position within a company or organization).
• Ability to manage and meet numerous deadlines.
• Effective and creative strategic thinker and planner.
• Excellent personal, communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading employees.
• Ability to work successfully in a collaborative team-based environment.

Associate Director of Programming

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is seeking an Associate Director of Programming. Responsible each year for the New York Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, the Walter Reade Theater, and soon the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, the Film Society offers each year a wide variety of international, classic and independent film programs, ranging across every conceivable film style and genre.

Candidates should have a wide knowledge of contemporary and classic cinemas, as well as experience in organizing and promoting major film series or festivals. Writing skills and public speaking ability are essential. Candidates would also be expected to become involved in a range of development and marketing activities.
